1 PhD and 2 Postdoc openings in KTH Royal Institute of Technology on 5G Mobile Networks

2 Postdoc positions in Future 5G Mobile Networks

The research area of the post-doc position(s) is future 5G mobile networks. The main challenge in these networks is scalability – affordable infrastructure solutions for both very high data rates and/or large number of simple IoT devices. Energy-smart network design is also an important tool. Examples of specifically challenging research topics are Ultra-Dense Wireless Access Networks, providing capacities exceeding 1 Gbit/s/m2 and high speed Internet access to a large number of users onboard aircraft through Direct Air to Ground Communications (DA2GC) for flying platforms. The position(s) are envisaged to focus on design and performance analysis for 5G network architectures for the above application areas.

The positions are time limited:  one year contract with a possibility of extension with maximum one additional year

- 1 Ph.D. student position in 5G Mobile Network Design for Flying Objects

Scalable, versatile and energy-smart network design will be the main challenge in future 5G mobile networks. Providing high speed Internet access to a large number of users onboard aircraft is a particularly challenging task. This problem area is addressed in the Direct Air to Ground Communications (DA2GC) project that aims at providing gate-to-gate connectivity to the passengers and providing coverage to the hard to access areas by flying platforms. The position will focus on design and performance analysis for 5G network architectures for in-flight communications.
