May 2004 About the conferenceArtificial Intelligence is a dynamic field that constantly discovers new applications, with new perspectives and challenges for research, and produces innovative products. The growth of information overload that makes necessary its effective management, the complexity of human activity fields in relation to the constant change of human environment, the constantly changing technological environment, as well as the constant need for learning, the human need for more free time and creation are problems-opportunities in which the developing techniques of Artificial Intelligence come to give answers. The 3rd Hellenic Conference on Artificial Intelligence (SETN 04) will be held May 5-8, 2004 in Samos Island, Greece, and will be organized by the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering in cooperation with the Hellenic Society of Artificial Intelligence (EETN). SETN conferences play an important role in the dissemination of innovative and high quality scientific results in Artificial Intelligence that are being produced by Greek scientists in institutes all over the world. However, the most important effect of SETN conferences is that they provide the context in which people meet and get to know each other, as well as a very good opportunity for students to get closer to results of innovative AI research.
